In February 2013, game designer Dr. Carla Fisher authored “I’m a Victim of Gun Violence. I’m Also a Game Developer.” on Slate.com, explaining her personal experience as well as her perspectives for moving past the games and violence debate to a place of helping players gain critical thinking skills about the content they use. In this session, she’ll continue the conversation, not to debate violence and games, but to discuss media literacy, partnerships with developers, dialogic play, and other ways to help kids situate all of the content they encounter.
